Chiefs first-five Gareth Anscombe is expected to be out of Super Rugby for up to six weeks after injuring his foot.
The Chiefs wanted to give Aaron Cruden some rest this week and named All Blacks first five Aaron Cruden on the bench with Anscombe starting at 10.
However Super Rugby's leading point scorer Anscombe arrived at the ground in Pukekohe on crutches and was pulled from the team.
Anscombe said that he had fractured a bone near the big toe in his right foot during a Chiefs training session on Thursday.
The 21-year-old said that he was disappointed to miss out on the chance to play in his preferred position at 10.
"It would have been a good opportunity to play 10 so I am pretty gutted," said Anscombe shortly before the match against the Force.
Luckily for Anscombe and the Chiefs they have a five week break in June as they have a bye before the Internationals break.
The Chiefs play the Hurricanes next week and then the Crusaders before their break so Anscombe could return straight after the June break.
More details on this will be revealed as they become available.
