Reds captain James Horwill has praised the impact made by the players who came on in the second half and helped spur them on to victory.

The Reds were trailing 13-20 in the second half but fought their way back into the match with two late tries and won the match 33-20 with a bonus point.

The result extended the Reds unbeaten record against the Rebels after tries to Luke Morahan, Jake Schatz, Quade Cooper and Ben Lucas in what was their final Super Rugby match before the June Test break.

The four-tries-to-two victory was a fitting way to celebrate hooker James Hanson's milestone 50th game for Queensland.

"In any interstate game there is a lot of passion," Reds captain James Horwill said.

"There always is, but in that last 30 minutes I think the guys that came on off the bench did a great job for us."

"That's something we knew going into the game, that we would need guys who could finish the game strongly.

"Guys like Gilly and Saia made a big impact and we probably played more like we wanted to. "

"Once we put it all together, held onto the ball and applied pressure, we got the result."

Reds Director of Coaching Ewen McKenzie said he was pleased that they were back to winning ways after losing two matches on tour.

"I thought we worked our way through the game pretty well and at the end got away with the bonus point," said McKenzie

"The nature of the competition is there aren't a lot of games so you just have to win. "

"Coming off two losses we needed to make sure we got back into the winning frame of mind, which we did."

The Reds have a bye next weekend but still return to Suncorp Stadium as hey take on The British and Irish Lions in a historic tour match against the Northern Hemisphere giants.
