The Cheetahs are closer to the Super Rugby play offs than they have ever been and with just two matches and a bye left they must travel to Newlands where they have not had a lot of luck.

The Stormers have played the Cheetahs 10 times since the latter joined Super Rugby through the Super 14 in 2006.

In those 10 Super Rugby matches the Stormers have won 7 matches and lost three times.

The first two Super Rugby clashes between the teams were won by the Cheetahs but then the Stormers went through a seven match winning streak which ended earlier this year in Bloemfontein.

Overall then the Stormers have won 70 % of their matches against the Cheetahs with an average score of Stormers 24 Cheetahs 21.

The Stormers have hosted the Cheetahs in Cape Town at Newlands five times and they have won four times or 80 % of their matches.

The Cheetahs won their first and only Super Rugby match at Newlands in March 2006 but since then they have lost on their last four visits to Cape Town.

The average score when the Stormers play the Cheetahs in Cape Town is Stormers 23 Cheetahs 18.

All of the above though does not take into account the form of the teams this year. The Stormers are a shadow of the team they have been in the past while the Cheetahs are currently the fifth best Super Rugby team overall.

Stormers coach Allister Coetzee knows his side is in for a big one on Saturday.

"The Cheetahs have everything to play for," said Coetzee.

"They're a good team, they've done well in the tournament and they have play-off possibilities. They've also developed a few Springboks in their squad, so they're a quality side. We know we're in for a tough game."

Speaking about the Stormers' last three league matches, in what has been a tough season thus far, Coetzee added: "It's not a case of the competition being over for us. We're a proud Stormers team and, who knows, with some showers of blessings something might happen?

"We're definitely not happy with our (11th-place) position on the log, therefore the next three games are really important to make sure we improve that.

"We have a proud record at home and we want to keep that intact. The players are looking forward to the next three derbies and they're keen to play."

The June break will most likely help the Stormers refresh their mindset towards Super Rugby while the break has very real potential to upset the Cheetahs form. On that basis home advantage should be key.

The Cheetahs have not won in Cape Town for almost seven years.

The Bookies have given the Cheetahs a 5 point start for this Match - with an offer of a FREE $150 BET. The Stormers have stepped up for the bigger teams this season and that is what the Cheetahs have become. The Stormers should edge the Cheetahs by two.

This Match will be shown on TV in NZ, Aus, SA and in the UK on the Sky Sports website.
