Rebels scrumhalf Nick Stirzaker will be released to play in the ITM Cup for Manawatu Turbos following the Super Rugby season after the the Rebels and ARU acknowledged his request last week.
Stirzaker has had many cameos from the Rebels bench this season, and started in two matches, including the Club's 30-21 win over the Stormers in May this year.
The young half was looking forward to challenging himself in Palmerston North, and returning to Melbourne a more experienced Rebel for the 2014 season.
"I am very fortunate that the Rebels and ARU have granted me a release to further develop my Rugby this season.
"I understand the need to continue to develop the game locally throughout Victoria, which I am looking forward to doing at some stage next season, however it is important that I challenge myself before the 2014 Super Rugby season commences.
"I am very lucky to play with such a highly respected Club, and play against some of the best Rugby players in New Zealand. I will learn as much as I can and bring that into the 2014 Super Rugby Season for the Rebels.
"But there is still work to be done this year, when we take on the Highlanders on July 12 at AAMI Park, and my teammates and I want to finish this season on a high."
Stirzaker is contracted until the end of 2014 with the Rebels, and will partner Wallaby Luke Burgess in the scrumhalf position next season.
