All Black centre Ma'a Nonu has turned down a lucrative offer to play Heineken Cup and Top 14 Rugby with Clermont to play Super Rugby in 2014.
The former Hurricanes, Blues and Highlanders centre was not wanted by his former team as well as the Chiefs but is understood to have come to terms with Blues coach Sir John Kirwan.
Reports say that Nonu turned down an offer from Top 14 side Clermont which was worth three times as much as the one he's signed on for with the Auckland franchise.
Eighty-four-Test All Black Nonu has been without a Super Rugby contract after he left the Highlanders at the end of the 2013 season and has been linked with a number of French teams.
According to 3News Nonu will now return to the team he played for in 2012 having agreed terms with Blues coach Sir John Kirwan in the last 48 hours.
