The Cheetahs have decided to rest Springbok fullback Willie le Roux in their two Super Rugby warm up matches.
Le Roux injured his shoulder when he fell on it in the Cheetahs warm up match against the Shimlas last weekend.
The Cheetahs medics say that the injury is not bad but it is not worth risking him against NMMU (Tuesday) and the EP Kings (Saturday).
Cheetahs coach Naka Drotske says that Hennie Daniller will cover at fullback for Le Roux having recovered from a wrist injury.
"Hennie (Daniller) is now happily back," Drotske told Volksblad.
While Le Roux will be rested the Cheetahs will play lyhalf Johan Goosen and scrumhalf Shaun Venter against the Kings.
Drotske say that Venter - who underwent a shoulder operation last year - will get about 20 minutes against his former team and that Goosen will get about 40 minutes.
On Saturday the Cheetahs named a 36-man training squad for their week-long camp in Jeffreys Bay.
The squad played a match against Shimlas at Free State University on Friday and won the match 66-19. A second string team beat a Griquas side 21-19.
The Cheetahs will also play the Pumas in Parys on February the 1st in Parys and open their Super Rugby season at home against the Lions in Bloemfontein on Saturday, February the 15th.
