Stormers vice-captain Schalk Burger has revealed that the Cape based Super Rugby franchise will pay more attention to their attack in Super Rugby this year.

In recent years the Stormers have been the best defensive Super Rugby team but their attack has struggled at times.

Between 2010 and 2013 the Stormers conceded the least amount of tries but struggle to get the bonus point for scoring four tries.

In 2013 only the Western Force and the Southern Kings scored fewer tries and in 2012 the Stormers scored the lowest number of tries despite finishing the season as the top team in the standings.

"In the past our defence put us in such a comfort zone that we simply didn't put any emphasis on attack," Burger told Die Burger.

"This year the focus is to get our attacking game at the same standard as our defence.

"The good defence is something that's always been part of the current set-up. Well keep the standard high."

"It's important to stick with the plan we've decided to undertake, otherwise we'll experience an identity crisis.

"We're striving towards a balanced game plan," added Burger.
