The Lions form since they returned to Super Rugby two weeks ago has been the biggest surprise yet this season.

We are waiting for the kick off. The teams are on the field.

The Lions kick off and we are underway.

0.21: The Bulls receive the kick off and immediately kick it into touch to rely on their line out strength.

1.00: Penalty from the scrum for the Bulls. They kick for touch.

2.00: Bulls win the line out and work the ball to the Lions 22m line. The Lions however turn the ball over as they get the put in for a scrum after the ball went dead.

3.00: The Lions win the scrum and then boot the ball well downfield.

4.00: The Bulls win the line out but the Lions disrupt their play after it. The Bulls chip up and chase but they run into each other and a certain try goes begging.

5.00: Penalty to the Bulls for tackler not releasing. The Bulls kick for touch and then win the line out.

6.00: The Bulls try to move the ball wide but the Lions push them into touch.  

7.00: Penalty to the Lions. Entering ruck from the side. Jacques-Louis Potgieter takes the shot and nails it.

10.00: The Bulls see that they have the advantage so J-L Potgieter tries the drop goal but misses. The Bulls get another chance with a penalty.

11.00: Bulls possession is at 86%. Potgieter nails the penalty.

12.00: The Lions charge down a kick after the restart and Stefan Watermeyer chases, gathers and scores the opening TRY!

13.00: Marnitz Boshoff takes the conversion and nails it. The Lions lead having had almost no possession.

14.00: Jacques du Plessis makes a break for the Bulls but the Lions defence stops them, they change sides and can't get through so Basson kicks across but the ball goes out on the full.

17.00: The Lions win a penalty after a scrum (Hougaard offside) so they kick for touch. They win the line out just outside the Bulls 22. They can't do anything with it though and the ball goes out.

19.00: The Bulls win a line out and Hougaard chips upfield.

20.00: The Lions try to attack but the Bulls stop them outside their 22 and then the Lions knock on. Bulls scrum.

21.00: Bulls penalty for illegal scrumming. Potgieter kicks for touch.

23.00: A Bulls ball pops out of a ruck and the Lions kick it ahead, the Lions chase and then overshoot it, the Bulls get the ball and run it back and Basson passes to Jan Serfontein who goes in to score. TRY!!

24.00: Potgieter adds the conversion.

27.00: Faf de Klerk almost gets through the Bulls defence but he is just caught. The Lions enthusiasm is fantastic compared to what it was in 2012.

28.00: The Bulls set up a line out outside their 22. They win the line out and attack. The Lions however thwart the attack.

31.00: The Lions work the ball down into the Bulls half with a line out. The Bulls win the line out and Potgieter kicks for touch but makes little ground.

32.00: Penalty to the Lions in front of the posts. Boshoff will take the kick. The Bulls have done well to play the game in the Lions half so that Boshoff can't go for drops. He nails the penalty.

35.00: The Bulls go through the phases on attack and they can't get through so Potgieter takes a drop goal and he nails it. We go to the TMO for a lifting tackle but no cards follow.

37.00: Hougaard kicks for touch and finds it from the Bulls end to set up a line out in the Lions 22. The Bulls win a penalty from the line out so they will kick for posts.

38.00: J-L. Potgieter takes the penalty kick and nails it.

39.00: Penalty on the half way line for the Lions after the kick off.

40.25: Boshoff takes the kick and hits the post and it bounces out. His first miss of the season. The siren sounds for half time.

The Bulls kick off and we are underway.

43.00: The Lions have an advantage on the half way line after the Bulls knock on. Boshoff tries to run the ball but the Bulls push them back, De Klerk kicks ahead and the ball goes out near the Bulls 22m line.

45.00: Bulls win the line out but the Lions turn the ball over. They have to kick and chase though. The Bulls kick the ball back so the Lions run it.

47.00: The Lions get caught in their half and the Bulls turn over possession only for the Bulls to knock on.

50.00: The Bulls just about win their line out and then chip ahead but the Lions try to attack with the ball. However they go to ground and don't release so the Bulls have a penalty.

51.00:J-L. Potgieter takes the penalty kick for posts but misses.

54.00: Both teams give the ball some air and then J-L. Potgieter kicks for touch and finds it. The Lions win the line out and attack on the half way line.  

56.00: The Lions use the box kick and they beat Jurgen Visser but Robbie Coetzee loses the ball as he stumbles to the ground.

57.00: Still no scores added this half. The Bulls go long with a line out and run the ball. They move the ball out to the wings but the Lions slow them down and then win the put in.

60.00: Penalty from the scrum for the Bulls. J-L.Potgieter will kick for posts.

61.00: Potgieter slots the penalty. First points this half.

64.00:There is a break in play for an injury. The game resumes.

65.00: The Lions have the ball on the halfway line and are trying to conjure something up but they knock on.

68.00: Penalty to the Bulls from the scrum. Potgieter will kick for posts on the half way line. He misses this one.

70.00: Francois Hougaard puts in a beauty of a kick for the corner to set up a line out. The Lions throw it in but it's not straight.

71.00: The Lions win a penalty from the scrum for illegal binding so the Lions kick for touch and set up a line out on the half way line.

73.00: Penalty to the Bulls. Potgieter takes the kick and he nails it. The Lions have to score three times now.

75.00: The Lions get the ball down into the Bulls 22. They win a line out and set up the driving maul. . Ruan Dreyer darts for the line and reaches out but he is short. 5m scrum.

76.00: The Bulls win the scrum and Hougaard kicks upfield. Matfield steals the ball from the Lions line out but he passes to no one and Hougaard has to kick the ball away - straight into Willie Wepener's head and he dives on the ball and scores. TRY!

78.00: Boshoff adds the conversion.

79.00: The Lions can win a bonus point if they get another point. The Bulls have other ideas though as they smash the Lions backwards.

80.16: The siren sounds and the Bulls kick ahead and chase, the Lions get the ball but there is an infringement so the whistle goes.

That's it the Bulls win.

The final score is Bulls 25 (19) Lions 17 (10)
