Bulls coach Frans Ludeke has made three changes to his team to face the Blues at Loftus Versfeld on Saturday with Akona Ndungane winning his 100th Super Rugby cap.

Ndungane made his Super Rugby debut in 2005 against the Cats and four years later won his 50th cap in Pretoria playing against the Reds in 2009. He will become the ninth Bulls player to reach the 100 cap milestone.

All three of the Bulls changes are in the forward pack with Werner Kruger coming into at tighthead for Frik Kirsten, who is suffering from a sore back.

Flanker Deon Stegmann returns from injury to make his first start this season having recovered from a groin strain and will replace Jono Ross at number six.

Ross meanwhile moves to number eight in place of Grant Hattingh. Ludeke has also made a change to the bench as fit-again Mornè Mellett will make his first appearance for the team this year, replacing Kirsten.

"We are quite pleased to have Steggies back. He is an experienced campaigner and is not a Springbok for nothing. The Blues thrive on quick ball and Steggies will play a big role for us in slowing their ball down and creating turnovers," Ludeke said.

"It also allows Jono to move to his more natural position at the back of the scrum."

Ludeke was full of praise for Ndungane who scored a try for the Bulls in Auckland last year.

"What a player to have in your side. He had to work so hard to get back into rugby after suffering two broken legs in a row and I think I speak on behalf of everyone in congratulating him on this milestone in his career. "

"He has been exceptional for us and I am privileged to be his coach," Ludeke said.
