The Lions can expect their defence to be heavily tested this weekend when they host the Blues at Ellis Park for the first time since 2011.

The Blues kick off and we are underway.

2.00:Early penalty to the Blues inside their half for offside. They kick for touch.

3.00: The Blues are putting the Lions under real pressure in their 22. They get to the 5m line but then the Lions turn the ball over and kick it to safety.

5.00: The Blues are ensuring that the game is being played in the Lions half.

6.00: The Blues concede a penalty from the scrum so Marnitz Boshoff kicks the ball into touch.

8.00: The Lions win the line out and run the ball into the Blues half. They get the Blues on the backfoot but then they knock on just 5m out.

9.00: The Blues win a penalty from the 5m scrum so they kick for touch.

11.00: The Lions get the ball into space after a line out and Faf de Klerk chases but with an open tryline ahead of him he knocks on.

12.00: Penalty to the Lions from the scrum. Boshoff will kick.

13.00: Boshoff takes the shot but its well off. Yes he missed.

16.00: The Blues win a line out and try to run the ball down the wing. The passing is a little loose and the Lions grab the ball and start their own attack.

18.00:  Robbie Coetzee has a powerful run for the Lions but he is eventually caught. Still no score in a fairly even match so far.

19.00: The Blues work the ball into the Lions 22. They go through 9 phases but then the Lions knock on.

22.00: The Blues are trying to attack but the Lions continue to defend or turn the Blues ball over and attack themselves.

23.00: There is a break in play as Robbie Coetzee gets some strapping on his head. The game resumes.

24.00: The Blues start their attack in their half and work the ball to the Lions 22 but the home side defend and win a penalty.

27.00: The Blues build up the attack again but when they get close the Lions turn the ball over and boot it downfield. Boshoff boots the ball upfield and there is a chase but the Blues kick it out.

28.00: The Lions have the ball on the Blues 22. They have an advantage and go through a couple of phases but the Blues turn the ball over so we go back for the penalty. The Lions will go for the line out and maul.

30.00: The Lions win the line out and use the maul and although they go over the try is not awarded and Charlie Faumuina is yellow carded.

31.00: The Lions go again with the line out and maul but this time the ball is held up.

32.00: The Lions use the scrum to drive for the line but it wheels and the Lions get another scrum. They have been on the Blues 5m line for about 5mins.

33.00: The Lions get the ball to the 5m line, Faf de Klerk sells a dummy and goes for the line himself and scores. TRY!

34.00: Boshoff takes the conversion and slots it.

35.00: The Lions win a penalty in their half so the Lions clear. The penalty conceded count so far is Lions 2 Blues 7

36.00: JW Joncker has a run down the wing but he trips on the line after a kick ahead. The Lions chase but the Blues get back, dot the ball and get the drop out.

37.00: Liaki Moli comes on for Patrick Tuipulotu.

38.00: The Lions look like they are attacking by running the ball but then Boshoff takes a drop goal shot and nails it.

39.00: The Blues continue to bash away at the Lions. A Lions player gets a boot to the ball as the siren sounds. There is a penalty for the Lions and they take the quick tap and then Courtnall Skosan runs in the TRY !

40.00: Boshoff takes the conversion and nails it. It's half time.

The Lions kick off and the second half is underway.

41.00: The Lions work the ball into the Blues half and the ball goes back to Boshoff who slots another drop goal.

43.00: The Blues work the ball into the Lions 22 but then they lose the ball forward as they get to about 5m out.

44.00: The referee goes to the touch judge for foul play and an illegal play.  Tom Donnelly is yellow carded for double foul play. The Lions kick for touch.

45.00: The Blues win a penalty just inside their half about 45m out so they decide to kick for posts. Chris Noakes takes the shot and nails it. The Blues are on the board.

48.00: The Blues have the ball on their 22m line. There is a scrum which takes an age to complete. The Lions concede a penalty from the scrum so the Blues kick for touch.

51.00: Penalty to the Lions. They will kick for posts. Boshoff takes the shot and nails it.

53.00: The Blues have the ball in the Lions 22, they go through the phases on attack but the Lions defend well and keep them out.

59.00:The Lions win the ball from a line out and race down the wing. Whiteley passes to Deon van Rensburg who loses the ball in the tackle. Oh wow, somehow the TMO says the TRY should be awarded so Coenie van Wyk gets a try as he followed up. That one will be debated later.

64.00: Bryn Hall makes another break and the Blues are in again after a couple of phases as Frank Halai goes over for a TRY!

65.00: Noakes adds the conversion.

67.00: The Lions win a penalty in the Blues half so Boshoff takes the kick and nails it.

69.00: The Blues win another penalty and this one is 5m out. They try to drive over but get held up so the Blues win the put in for the scrum.

70.00: The Blues go for the line again and this time George Moala goes over to score. TRY! Bonus point TRY.

74.00: The Lions enjoy a break but they get stopped and then a player is taken out so they get a penalty. Boshoff slots the penalty.

75.00: Halai goes to gather a ball but knocks it on. The Lions then win a penalty from the scrum. Boshoff will kick.
