The Waratahs have suffered a major blow for this weekend's Super Rugby match against the Sharks as Israel Folau has been ruled out due to injury.
Folau missed the Waratahs flight to South Africa on Saturday due to a sore throat and was given time allow the injury to settle down.
However the dual international saw a specialist on Monday and has now been ruled out this weekend and is in doubt for the Tahs second tour match against the Stormers.
Folau has a bruised throat and is due to see the specialist again on Thursday.
The fullback sustained a knock in the 20th minute of the Waratahs 32-8 victory over the Rebels but stayed on and scored two tries in the second half.
Super Rugby's leading try scorer was barely able to talk after the match and the swelling has still not gone down.
The loss of Folau is a massive blow for the Waratahs as he has been their go to man and has scored more than half of their tries so far this season.
Waratahs coach Michael Cheika is likely to move Kurtley Beale to fullback in Folau's place.
