The Brumbies have named Wallabies centre Christian Lealiifano to make his return to the Super Rugby this weekend against the Rebels in Melbourne.

Lealiifano has been in rehabilitation from surgery on his right ankle for the last five months and he will start off the replacements bench.

The Wallaby centre's surgery last year was to adjust problems with his ankle reconstruction in 2012.

Lealiifano's Test centre partner Tevita Kuridrani also returns to the starting line up having missed last week's victory over the Stormers in Canberra due to a funeral.

Kuridrani's return means that Andrew Smith drops down to the replacements alongside Conrad Hoffman who has replaced Michael Dowsett on the bench.

The Brumbies have retained the forward pack that played against the Stormers for the match this week at AAMI Park.

Jesse Mogg, Joe Tomane, Tevita Kuridrani, Pat McCabe, Robbie Coleman, Matt Toomua, Nic White, Ben Mowen (c), Jarrad Butler, Jordan Smiler, Sam Carter, Scott Fardy, Ben Alexander, Stephen Moore, JP Smith.

Replacements : Siliva Siliva, Ruan Smith, Ruaidhri Murphy, Jack Whetton, Lachlan McCaffrey, Conrad Hoffman, Andrew Smith, Christian Lealiifano.
