Out of the last five Super Rugby matches between the Johannesburg based Lions and the Pretoria based Bulls the Pretoria franchise have won all five.

For Lions fans their record against the Bulls is very worrying as out of the last ten matches between the teams the Bulls have won all ten.

Overall the Lions have played the Bulls 18 times since 1998 and the Lions have won 5 matches and lost 13 matches.

That gives the Lions a record of winning 28% of their matches against the Bulls.

The average score when the Lions play the Bulls across all venues is : Lions 25 Bulls 31.

This weekend the match will be played in Johannesburg which is home for the Lions and where the teams have met 8 times. The Lions have won 2 of those eight matches and lost 6 matches.

That gives the Lions a record of winning 25% of their home matches against the Bulls.

The Lions have played 13 Super Rugby matches so far this season and they have won 4 and lost nine. They have just returned from their Australasian tour where they lost all of their matches.

The Lions have played five matches at home in Johannesburg this year and they have won three and lost two. Two of those three wins were controversial as the Reds and Blues were unhappy wi8th the referee's performance.

That gives the Lions a record of winning 60% of their home matches in Johannesburg in 2014.

The Lions are out of the running for the play offs this year and they have lost their last seven matches against all teams. Their last two matches at home have also been losses.

The Bulls are still in contention for the play offs but on the edge as they are probably the lowest ranked team in with a chance.

The Bulls have played six matches away from home in 2014 and they have yet to win away.

The Bulls have made three changes to the team that beat the Brumbies last week and Jacques Engelbrecht moves from the bench to start at number 8, with Grant Hattingh moving to lock in place of Victor Matfield who is rested.

In another rotational swop, Marcel van der Merwe will start at tight head, with Werner Kruger playing off the bench. Wimpie van der Walt replaces Engelbrecht on the bench, where there is also a return for Louis Fouche.

The Lions on the other hand have made six changes. Coach Ackermann has changed the front row that lost 29-19 to the Western Force in Perth last week.

Schalk van der Merwe, Robbie Coetzee and Julian Redelinghuys will all start in the front row this week.

Meanwhile, in the backline, Chrysander Botha will start at left wing, while Stokkies Hanekom comes in at outside centre while Courtnall Skosan will fill the right wing berth, having recovered from injury.

The Bookies have given the Lions an 8 point start for this Match - with an offer of a FREE $250.00 Bet. While the Bulls have yet to win away from home in 2014 they won't be far from home in Johannesburg and the Lions are very low in confidence after seven straight losses. The Bulls should win this by 8 points.

This Match will be shown on TV in NZ, Aus, SA and in the UK on Sky Sports 4/HD on the Red Button.
