The Brumbies moved back into the Super Rugby play off places when they thumped the Rebels 37-10 with a bonus point in Canberra.

The Brumbies led the Australian Conference earlier in the season but had dropped to seventh place after two losses in South Africa.

The Brumbies victory evens out the Melbourne result between the teams earlier in the season which ended 32-24 in the Rebels favour.

The Brumbies outscored the Rebels by six tries to one and provisionally moved from seventh place to fourth in the overall standings.

The result moved the Brumbies above the Western Force in the Australian Conference and they are three points behind the conference leading Waratahs.

The Brumbies dominated from the opening minutes of the match and by half time they had already won the bonus point for scoring four tries.

At half time the Brumbies were leading 25-3 and while extending their own lead they manage to keep the Rebels from scoring until the 68th minute when Rebels captain Scott Higginbotham went over.

The result is the Brumbies ninth victory from 14 matches while the loss was the Rebels ninth loss from 13 matches.

Flyhalf Matt Toomua scored two of the Brumbies six tries within the first fifteen minutes of the match.

The Brumbies final try was scored in the final minute of the match when Leon Power crashed over for the home side.

The Brumbies have two matches remaining in the regular season - against the Waratahs in Sydney but at home in Canberra against the Western Force.
