Wales prop Samson Lee has been give a five match suspension which starts in the new European season on August the 16th for for striking South African lock Flip van der Merwe, with his head.
Twenty-one-year-old Lee will miss two pre-season friendlies with against Bath and Gloucester the Scarlets and the first three weeks of their Pro12 season
The offence took place in the second half of the second Test between South Africa and Wales which took place in Nelspruit and Van der Merwe had to have treatment for a blood injury.
The ban was halved as he admitted reckless conduct as well as his youth and his remorse at the hearing.
Lee made his first start for Wales in the match and replaced Adam Jones. South Africa were awarded a late penalty try and they won the match 31-30.
Judicial Officer, Christopher Quinlan, QC (England), handed down the sentence after Lee was cited by Commissioner James Absaloms of Kenya for breaching law 10.4 (a) - striking or punching an opponent.
