The Lions and the Rebels have only met each other once in Super Rugby since the Melbourne side joined Super Rugby in 2011.

The Lions missed the 2013 Super Rugby season and due to the way the draw works the teams missed each other in 2011 so this will be their second meeting.

The one and only match between the teams was played in Johannesburg and the Lions won the match 37-32.

This weekend the match will again be played in Johannesburg so the Lions will have home advantage.

The Lions have played 14 matches so far this season and they have won five and lost nine matches. Their last outing was a victory over the Bulls which ended a seven match losing streak.

The Lions have played 6 matches at home in Ellis Park and they have won four which gives them a record of winning 67% of their home matches.

The Rebels on the other hand have also played 14 matches so far and 6 of those were away matches. In those six away matches they won one (the Reds) so they have a record of winning 17% of their away matches.

The Melbourne Rebels have played 14 matches outside of Australia since they joined Super Rugby but they have never won on foreign soil. In South Africa they have played six matches and they got the closest to winning as they played two matches and lost both by 5 points.

While the Lions ended their losing streak in Round 16 the Rebels have lost their last three matches and two of those were at home in Melbourne.

The Bookies have given the Rebels a 6 point start for this Match - with an offer of a FREE $250.00 Bet. The Rebels form in recent weeks has been a little off and they have yet to win in SA. The Lions should win this match by 5.

This Match will be shown on TV in NZ, Aus, SA and in the UK on Sky Sports 3/HD on the Red Button.
