Outgoing Brumbies captain Ben Mowen has praised the Waratahs saying that they have the best defence in Super Rugby.

Mowen has agreed to play in France for Montpellier next season and leaves the Brumbies as their most capped captain.

The loose forward admitted after his team were beaten 26-8 by the Waratahs that they had enough opportunities in the Semi-final but they could not finish them off.

The Brumbies spent much of the second half attacking the Waratahs tryline but the home side held on to keep the Canberra Super Rugby side scoreless.

"We had more than enough opportunities inside their 22 to come away with a lot of points and you've got to give credit to the way the New South Wales guys held on," said Brumbies captain Ben Mowen

"They defended really well, they dismantled our maul which has been a real strength of ours and they're obviously the best defensive side in the competition for a reason."
