The Brumbies have set themselves the goal of reaching 15,000 members for the 2011 Super Rugby season and launched their membership season by running an exclusive preview of their 2011 Brumbies Membership television commercial for foundation members, sponsors and members of the media at Hoyts Woden.
The CA Brumbies will host an unprecedented eight regular season matches at Canberra Stadium in 2011 with four of those featuring Australian derbies against the NSW Waratahs, Queensland Reds, Western Force and Super Rugby newcomers, the Melbourne Rebels. The ACT province will also host matches against the Chiefs, Hurricanes, Lions and Stormers.
After recording an increased membership of 9,035 in 2010 – almost an eight per cent rise on their 2009 figure, the side is looking at exceeding their record membership of 11,223 over the next three seasons.
Brumbies Rugby CEO Andrew Fagan says the membership goal is in accordance with the club's strategic objectives.
"We'd love to reach an annual membership of 15,000 over the next three years," he said. "We believe this goal is reflective of the revamped competition format, the ability for us to host all four Australian sides throughout the regular season and the increased prospect of the side contesting the Super Rugby play-offs as part of a top-six finals series.
"The product we're offering our members is the more exciting than ever before and with players such as Rocky Elsom, Matt Giteau, Adam Ashley-Cooper, Ben Alexander and Stephen Hoiles returning, we believe our squad is as capable as any other in the competition. With the added guarantee of a home final to the highest-ranked Australian side, this is undoubtedly the year for Brumbies supporters to show their true colours by becoming members.
"Our members are the best supporters in Super Rugby. They're the ones who provide the extra boost for the players at Canberra Stadium and they're the ones we want to be there when we return to the finals."
Brumbies captain Stephen Hoiles says he could not put a value on the support provided by Brumbies Members.
"It's our members who give us the home ground advantage at Canberra Stadium," he said. "These are the people you can't afford to let down. When you're out on your feet defending your line on the 80th minute [of a match] and you hear the members in their yellow caps demanding you get up for one more effort, these are the people that help keep you going.
"We've had terrific support from our members throughout the history of the club, and with eight home games and one Australian province guaranteed to host a final, we're very excited about what's available to our members in 2011."
Memberships begin from $39 and have been tailored to cater for every supporter, including a variety of ticketed and non-ticketed memberships, female membership (Jillaroos), children's memberships (Junior Brumby) as well as the new Family Pack and Tryfecta (three match) memberships.
