The Melbourne Rebels are the first privately owned professional rugby team in Australia. The club shares its name with a former Australian Rugby Championship team, but the clubs are distinct.
The Rebels represent Victoria, Australia in the Super Rugby provincial tournament.
The franchise area includes; The 25 Victorian senior clubs of the
Victorian Rugby Union, who view the Rebels as the final step for
elite Victorian players to representative rugby.
