Sharks Super Rugby Head Coach Robert du Preez has named his team to play the Bulls at Kings Park in Durban with Garth April at flyhalf.
Reports from Durban suggest that Patrick Lambie will miss the rest of the Super Rugby season and possibly the rest of the year’s rugby.
Du Preez has named an all-international front row with Thomas du Toit, Franco Marais and Coenie Oosthuizen all playing for the SA ‘A’ side or Springboks, while Philip van der Walt leads the team from flank, alongside Tera Mtembu and Daniel du Preez.
Cobus Reinach and Garth April will form the halfback combination while there is a mix of youth and experience on the wings, Sbu Nkosi and Odwa Ndungane wearing the number 11 and 14 jerseys respectively.
There is a new centre partnership, Andre Esterhuizen back in Super Rugby action, partnering S’bura Sithole. Curwin Bosch is back after his SA Under 20 duties, playing at fullback.
Looking ahead to Friday’s match Sharks Head Coach, Robert du Preez said, ““It’s good to have the full squad together again after the break. The majority of our players have got game time under their belts prior to this week.”
“This is a typical South African derby and matches against the Bulls are always tough encounters. Both teams boast exciting players and it’s going to be a great contest.”
Beast Mtawarira, Jean-Luc du Preez, Kobus van Wyk and Lwazi Mvovo were all not considered for selection due to injury.
