BEEP! Piers Francis starts the first game of Saturday’s round 5 fixtures.

.00: The opening exchanges see both teams kicking for territory. Bulls have a line-out inside blues half but, they are penalised for interference. Francis kicks to touch.

.00: TRY! Augustine Pulu scores after a good line-out work from Jerome Kaino. Rieko Ioane spread the ball left to Michael Collins who popped a wonderful offload out the back door to Melani Nanai, the fullback regathered from the winger in support and, sent the scrumhalf away to score.

.00: Francis adds the easy extras.

.00: The Bulls handling has been poor in the opening exchanges. Scrum. blues.

.00: George Moala’s turn to knock on. Attacking scrum for the visitors on the 10 but, a free kick is awarded to the Blues for an early push: “chasing the push,” Nic Berry explains.

.00: Pauliasi Manu penalised and Pollard kicks a wonderful touch finder.

.00: TRY! Lizo Gqoboka reaches out from close range and scores next to the right-hand upright for his first Super rugby try. Pollard can’t miss from so close and the game is tied.

.00: The Blues are on the attack and win a penalty inside the Bulls’ 22 after Ruan Steenkamp is pinged. Francis turns down the points and kicks to touch.

.00: HELD UP! Blues went short, trying to muscle their way over. Pulu and Kaino instrumental in the attack. another penalty is kicked to touch.

.00: PENALTY! Pauliasi Manu penalised on the loose-head; silly error from the big man and that’s his second scrum penalty. Bulls clear.

.00: A bit of aerial ping-pong sees teams changing possession of the ball. The Blues decide to go to the near side and keep the ball in hand.

.00: Ruan Steenkamp puts a massive hit in but, the Bulls lose the ball after, initially, turning it over. Francis kicks to touch and the Blues attack near the visitors’ 22.

.00: The hooter blows with the Bulls in possession outside their 22. Pollard kicks the ball out and the teams head into the shed for the break.

The Turnover stats are not great in regards to the turnover count. The Blues 10 Bulls 6. Lots of penalties around the ruck.

The handling errors will be a concern for Blues coach Tana Umaga, his side has coughed up 15 mistakes to the Bulls’ 5. Not great, “you have to earn the right to go wide” is the oft-stated phrase in super Rugby and, the home team haven’t, despite, their early score on the touch-line.
