Brumbies beat Waratahs in Canberra

Super Rugby moves to Canberra in the second match on Friday as the Brumbies host the Waratahs in the Australian capital.

We are waiting for the kick off.

Kurtley Beale kicks off and the match is underway.  The Waratahs concede an early penalty for offside. Toomua kicks for touch.

Another penalty to the Brumbies. Angus Ta’avao offside.

2.00: Christian Lealiifano takes the shot and nails it. Brumbies lead.

3.00: Another penalty to the Brumbies. The Waratahs get a warning.

4.00: Will Skelton is shown a yellow card for a high tackle so the Waratahs are down to 14 for the next 10 minutes.

6.00: The Brumbies go on the attack by running the ball at the Waratahs. Israel Folau puts in a high tackle and the whistle goes. Hooper gets some time out to talk to the Waratahs to calm things down. Toomua kicks for the corner and the line out.

8.00: The Brumbies win the line out. They go through 9 phases and get to the far side. The Brumbies continue the attack and Lealiifano slips through and scores. TRY!

10.00: Lealiifano misses the conversion.

12.00:The Waratahs win a penalty just inside the Brumbies half. Kurtley Beale signals that he will kick for posts.  He lines up the kick but misses. To the right.

15.00: The Waratahs go through a couple of phases inside the Brumbies half. The Brumbies turn the ball over and they go through 8 phases before going to the boot. Beale kicks the ball back and into touch.

19.00: The Waratahs win a penalty on the half way line. They kick for touch. The Waratahs win the line out and then win another penalty. Beale kicks for the corner.

21.00: The Waratahs win the line out. Its not clean and its slow but they go wide to Folau who steps his way to the line and scores in the corner. TRY! Folau runs around Tomane and sells Aidan Toua a dummy and Tomane can’t catch him.

22.00: The conversion is missed.

26.00: The Waratahs have settled things down. They attack near the half way line but Beale is taken down in a big tackle and knocks on.

29.00: Just as the Waratahs look to have sorted things they take down a Brumbies rolling maul and Dean Mumm is yellow carded.

31.00: The handbags come out as tension is high. Players join in to calm things down.

35.00: The Waratahs win a penalty on the Brumbies 22m line. Beale lines up the shot and levels the scores. 8-all.

38.00: Tomane makes a break down the wing but is just caught. The ball rolls out off a Waratahs player so the Brumbies get the line out.

39.00: The Brumbies win the line out and after a couple of phases Cubelli dives over but loses the ball as he goes over in the tackle. No try.

40.00: The whistle goes for half time. It is half time.

The Brumbies kick off and the second half is underway.

42.00: Joe Tomane enjoys another break down the wing but gets caught. The Brumbies lose Blake Enever to injury as he comes off holding his arm.

46.00: Penalty against the Waratahs from the scrum. Lealiifano will kick for posts. Attendance is 20142.

47.00: Lealiifano slots the penalty.

48.00: The Waratahs get over the gainline on attack in the Brumbies 22 but they make a complete mess of the passing and a real try scoring opportunity goes begging.

52.00:  Tatafu Polota-Nau goes flying in low for a tackle on Jarrad Butler but injures himself in the process and has to come off holding his wrist.

56.00: Tension is clearly high. A fight breaks out with punches and blood on both sides. Toomua has taken a heavy blow so the TMO is called in. The angles are not good so we play on.

58.00: The Brumbies win a messy scrum and Joe Tomane gets the ball and races through to score. TRY!

59.00: Lealiifano adds the conversion.

60.00: From a sloppy line out the Waratahs run the ball and Israel Folau slips a pass to Nick Phipps who races for the line and scores. TRY!

61.00: Beale adds the conversion.

67.00: The Brumbies work the ball down into the Waratahs 22. They set up a scrum 5m out.

68.00: The Brumbies scrum powers forward and the Waratahs scrum gets driven back over the line and its a penalty TRY!

69.00:Lealiifano adds the conversion.

72.00: The Waratahs look to hit back. They work the ball to the 5m line, Beale sells a dummy and slips through and scores. We have to go to the TMO for obstruction by Sam Louisi. No try and a penalty to the Brumbies.

74.00: Penalty to the Waratahs for “coming through” at the breakdown. They choose the line out.

77.00: The Waratahs have the ball on the attack in the Brumbies 22. 6 phases but the Brumbies keep them out and then Hooper loses the ball and Tomane counter attacks.  In the counter-attack Hooper gets an intercept but is tackled and fails to release the ball. Brumbies scrum.

78.00: Tomas Cubelli comes off and Michael Dowsett comes on to put the ball into the scrum. The Brumbies win the scrum and kick upfield. They chase the ball but it gets knocked on.

79.00: The Waratahs win a penalty after winining a scrum. Its in their half so they kick for touch. The Brumbies come away with the ball from the line out.

80.00: The Brumbies run the ball and  Nigel Ah Wong gets into space – having on just come on – and races for the line and scores – TRY!

81.00: Toomua adds the conversion with a drop kick.

Thats it. Brumbies win.
