Match number four of the 2011 Super rugby season is the first inter-conference clash of the year. Remember there are now four table to keep you eye on and teams play two home derbies and four teams in each of the other conferences.

Brumbies vs Chiefs

Brumbies star playmaker Matt Giteau announced earlier this week that he will be joining Toulon in France next year and that he wanted to get the deal done so that he can concentrate on Super rugby.

Giteau is hungry for a big season as he spent a fair amount of time at the end of last season on the Wallabies bench.

The Chiefs reached the Super 14 final in 2009 but had a disastrous 2010 season where they finished in 11th place.

The 2011 squad is familiar to the 2010 squad and even this week’s team is relatively familiar.

However there is one notable name in the Chiefs starting line up and it is that of 37 year old Tana Umaga at number 12.

The Brumbies have something of a fortress in Canberra as they win 80 per cent of their matches at home while the Chiefs win just 36 per cent or a third of their away matches.

On average when these two teams meet the Brumbies score 30 points and the Chief score 22 points which points to a Brumbies home victory.

In the last five matches the Brumbies have won three but overall the teams have met 16 times and the Brumbies have won 10 times with 1 draw.

In 16 matches the Chiefs have won just twice in Canberra.

The Bookies are predicting another close match and have given the Chiefs a 2 point start – Free £ 20 bet for all new customers. We think the Brumbies will win this match relatively comfortably. Brumbies to win by 7.
