The Bulls will play the Sunwolves this weekend in Pretoria without Roelof Smit and Lizo Gqoboka who have been sidelined due to injury.

Both players were injured in the Bulls loss to the Jaguares and Smit injured his eye while Gqoboka sustained a groin injury.

Bulls team doctor Herman Rossouw said that he expects Smit to be available for the Bulls next week but they are uncertain about Gqoboka.

“Roelof Smit gave us quite a scare. He sustained a laceration in the eye and had to undergo immediate surgery,” said the Bulls doctor in the team’s weekly fitness report.

“Luckily the results were quite positive and he will only miss one week. He should be available to play next week again,” Rossouw said.

“Lizo Gqoboka needed to leave the field with an injury to his groin. He was referred for an MRI scan and we are still waiting for the results. It is unlikely that he will be available for this week’s fixture against the Sunwolves.”

“Burger Odendall was removed from the field as a precautionary and he is making a good recovery. “
