The Bulls have been dealt a big blow as fullback Warrick Gelant has broken his jaw and been ruled out of Super Rugby for at least six weeks.

Gelant suffered the fracture to the left side of his saw in the Bulls victory over the Sunwolves in Singapore.

The fullback has been one of the Bulls best attacking players and will be sorely missed by the Pretoria based Super Rugby franchise.

The Bulls have former Southern Kings and Sharks fullback SP Marais in their squad on a short term deal and he can provide cover while Gelant is out of action.

Alternatively Bjorn Basson and Jesse Kriel can provide cover at fullback.

According to SuperSport Gelant will have an operation on his jaw on Wednesday this week but now coach Nollis Marais will have to rethink his back three for this weekend’s match against the Cheetahs.
