Brumbies beat Bulls in Pretoria




Super rugby moves from Australia to South Africa in the third match on Saturday as the Bulls host the Brumbies in Pretoria.

The Bulls have played the Brumbies 19 times in Super rugby and they have won 7 matches and lost 12.

7.00: The Brumbies hit back immediately as Kyle Godwin gets through a gap and scores. TRY.

8.00: Christian Lealiifano adds the conversion to level the scores.

12.00: Penalty to the Brumbies.

14.00: Lealiifano takes the kick but misses.

17.00: The Brumbies go on the attack and almost get through. The Brumbies get stopped but they do win a penalty. Lealiifano takes the kick and this time he is on target. The Brumbies lead.

18.00: The Bulls attack on the wing but get slowed. The Bulls change sides and move the ball to the opposite side where flanker Roelof Smit is waiting and he powers over the line in the tackle and scores. TRY.

19.00: Pollard takes the conversion from out wide and nails it.

24.00: The Bulls win a line out near the half way line. They move the ball down the line and get into the Brumbies 22. The Brumbies turn the ball over and run it out of their 22 and almost up to the half way line.

27.00: The Bull win a penalty in the Brumbies 22 for illegal scrumming. They take the line out option. They win the line out but the Brumbies defend their line.

30.00: The Brumbies get the ball from a line out inside their half. They try to attack but when they fail to make any ground they are forced to kick and the ball goes straight into touch.

34.00: The Bulls win a penalty. It’s kickable but they take the line out. The Bulls win the line out but get pushed backwards.

35.00: The Brumbies disrupt the Bulls maul but concede a penalty. The Bulls kick for touch again.

36.00: The Brumbies defend their line and keep the maul out.

39.00: The Brumbies get the ball and attack down the wing. Henry Speight looks dangerous but the Bulls manage to slow him. The Brumbies recycle the ball and when they try to change sides Kyle Godwin loses the ball in the tackle.

45.00: Penalty to the Bulls from the scrum. Possibly incorrectly as the Bulls went down first. Pollard lines up the kick and nails it. The scores are level.

49,00: The Bulls kick and chase the ball – Tom Banks gets to the ball first and boots it into safety. Try saver.

50.00: The Bulls manage to get through the Brumbies defence. Gelant offloads to Johnny Kotze who goes in to score. The TMO checks the try as there was a suggestion of obstruction. The try is awarded.

50.00: Pollard misses the conversion.

53.00: Penalty to the Bulls. Pollard takes the shot and nails it.

56.00: The Brumbies grind the ball to the Bulls tryline. Folau Fainga’a goes in low for the line and scores. TRY! 

57.00: Lealiifano takes the conversion kick and nails it. The Bulls lead by just one point.

60.00: Jason Jenkins goes in high on Lealiifano. The Brumbies are awarded a penalty so they kick for touch and take the line out.

62.00: The Brumbies win the line out and attack the Bulls in their 22. The TMO is called in to review some potential foul play. Folau Fainga’a is shown a red card for a head butt. The Bulls take the line out for the penalty.

71.00: Wharenui Hawera takes over the kicking duties. He nails it. The Brumbies lead.

75.00: The Brumbies get back on the attack and even though they have one less player they get the overlap and Andrew Muirhead goes in to score. The TMO will check the try for foul play. They can’t find the footage. The try is awarded.

76.00: Hawera nails the conversion from the touchline.
