Crusaders coach Robbie Deans doesn’t believe the long flight from Cape Town will give his side an advantage over the Bulls as both teams prepare for their all-important semifinal showdown in Christchurch on Saturday night.

Deans believes the adrenaline of playing in a third Super 14 semifinal will more than make up for any travel fatigue the South Africans may be feeling.

The Bulls arrived in Christchurch late Monday night and were looking fresh at training the following day. All the talk from the South Africans’ camp this week has centred around the importance of their mental, rather than physical, state with backline coach Mike Bayly saying that 99 percent of the team’s preparation would be fine-tuning mental attitudes.

Looming large in the Bulls squad’s minds will be an acute awareness of the enormity of the task ahead, particularly after their recent 17-35 round 13 loss to the Crusaders in Pretoria.
