The first of two matches on South African soil this weekend is in Bloemfontein where the Cheetahs host the Southern Kings.

The Cheetahs and the Kings met twice in 2013 and the Cheetahs won both matches and this is their first meeting since then.

The Cheetahs have played ten matches this season and their only two wins were against the Sunwolves.

Those two Sunwolves wins were separated by three losses and last week’s Cheetahs loss to the Waratahs was their third loss so they are due a win this week.

The Kings have played 9 matches and they have won one match. They are last in the Super Rugby standings.

In terms of selections for this match the Cheetahs have been given a boost by the return of Springbok Lood de Jager. They will also get Charles Marais, Torsten van Jaarsveld, Maks van Dyk, Paul Schoeman and Uzair Cassiem back this week.

As a result Jacques du Toit, Ox Nche, Luan de Bruin, Henco Venter and Carl Wegner are on the bench.

Shaun Venter and Tian Meyer will be switching places at scrumhalf with Meyer on the bench. Captain Francois Venter starts at outside centre with Michael van der Spuy at 12 and Nico Lee is named on the replacements bench.

The Kings have suffered a triple blow in injury terms as they will be without CJ Velleman, Chris Cloete and most recently regular captain Steven Sykes. Kings head coach Deon Davids has been forced four changes this week.

Schalk Oelofse comes up from the bench to fill in for Sykes at lock, while JP Jonck takes up the position at left flank in place of Chris Cloete, who is out with a knee injury. Aidon Davis comes on at 8th man, in place of CJ Velleman, who is out with a broken thumb.

At the back, Davids has brought JP du Plessis on at outside centre to fill in for Stefan Watermeyer, who is out with a tendon injury to his foot. Cornell Hess comes up onto the bench to fill the spot opened up by Oelofse starting.

The Bookies have given the Kings a 25 point start for this Match – with an offer of up to $200 in Bonus bets. The Kings have had to name an under strength team so they will be expected to struggle. The Cheetahs should win this by 18.

This Match will be shown on TV in NZ (Sky), Aus (Fox Sports), SA (SuperSport) and in the UK on Sky Sports 2 on the Red Button.
