Chiefs start Donald at centre against Stormers

Chiefs Super rugby head coach Dave Rennie has named his team to play the Stormers with Stephen Donald starting at second five-eighth for the quarter-final at Newlands.

Almost a year to the day, the Chiefs will meet the Stormers again in their quarterfinal at Newlands, Cape Town.

In the midfield Centurion Stephen Donald starts at 12 filling the gap created by Charlie Ngatai’s injury and he will be partnered by Anton Lienert-Brown.

Also in the backs, veteran halfback Tawera Kerr-Barlow will start in jersey nine with co-captain Aaron Cruden to steer the ship at 1st five-eighth.

James Lowe, Solomon Alaimalo and Damian McKenzie complete an exciting backline in jerseys 11, 14 and 15 respectively.

In the forwards, Kane Hames, Nathan Harris and Nepo Laulala form a formidable front row, with the hard-working duo of Brodie Retallick and Mitchell Brown partnering at lock.

Liam Messam, co-captain Sam Cane and Michael Leitch form a highly experienced loose forward trio.

Brad Weber, Mitchell Graham, Sam McNicol, Toni Pulu, Taleni Seu, Charlie Ngatai and Alex Nankivell were all unavailable for selection.
