Sharks flanker Marcell Coetzee has been ruled out for the rest of the Super Rugby season which means he has played his last match for the Sharks.

Coetzee was stretchered off in the Sharks loss to the Lions in Durban on Saturday and scans have confirmed that he has an anterior cruciate ligament injury and has been ruled out for 9 months.

Coetzee has agreed to play for Irish province Ulster at the end of the Super Rugby season so he has played his last match for the Sharks.

The Sharks have confirmed that Coetzee will have an operation later this week.

The Sharks called Jean Deysel into the squad for their tour of New Zealand.
