Crusaders centre Ryan Crotty and Outside Back David Havili have been warned and cited respectively following their 21-26 victory over the Blues in Auckland.

Crotty has been warned for a dangerous tackle in the 80th minute on Blues number 10 Ihaia West. Whilst attempting a tackle on Blues #10, Crotty made contact with the Blues players head.

An Citing Commissioner Warning may be issued by the SANZAAR Citing Commissioner for foul play incidents that are very close to, but in his opinion do not meet the Red Card threshold for citings.

In this case the referee for the match did not act upon the incident. Upon further review of the match footage the Citing Commissioner deemed a Citing Commissioner Warning was appropriate.

Meanwhile David Havili has been cited for alleged foul play in the same match. Havili is alleged to have contravened Law 10.4 (a) Punching or Striking during the match between the Blues and Crusaders at Eden Park in Auckland on 28 May 2016.

Havili is alleged to have made contact with a swinging arm to the neck of the Blues #12.

Upon further review of the match footage, the Citing Commissioner deemed in his opinion the incident had met the red card threshold for foul play.

The citing is to be considered in the first instance by SANZAAR Duty Judicial Officer Michael Heron QC.

All SANZAAR disciplinary matters are in the first instance referred to a Duty Judicial Officer hearing to provide the option of expediting the judicial process.

For a matter to be dispensed with at this hearing, the person appearing must plead guilty and accept the penalty offered by the DJO.

And what about Tuipoloto’s shoulder charge attempting (unsuccessfully) to stop Nadolo scoring early on?

This is a tricky one. If the commissioner is going to look at any they should look at everything in the game. It might erode the ‘what happens on the field stays on the field”. There are 3 refs on the field + one in the box, surely that is enough?
