Sharks Coach Dick Muir has announced the team that will take on the Cheetahs at The Absa Stadium Durban on Saturday.

Muir has elected to rest returning Springboks, John Smit and Percy Montgomery. Albert van den Berg has however been included in the side as he had less game time on the Tri-Nations tour, compared to his two team-mates.

Scrumhalf Craig Davidson also makes his return to the side. He impressed Muir with his performance, both from a playing and fitness perspective, during the Sharks invitation match against Durban Collegians on Tuesday night and as a result, has been selected for Saturday’s clash.

Crowd favourites Brent Russell and Waylon Murray were not available for selection due to injury.

“I know Rassie (Erasmus, Cheetahs Coach) well, ” said Muir. “I know he will do his homework and that his team will be well prepared for the game. We however are also well prepared and for us this is yet another Currie Cup match on the schedule. It will be a hard game but our motto is to concentrate on one match at a time and play our own game.”
