Port Elizabeth based Super Rugby franchise the Southern Kings will contest the 2017 Super Rugby season without Jacques ‘Vleis’ Engelbrecht.
Engelbrecht has signed a contract to play in France for French Pro D2 club US Montauban.
The ProD2 is the league below the Top14 which is the highest domestic league in France.
Thirty-one-year-old Engelbrecht played for the Southern Kings in their first year of Super Rugby in 2013 before making the move to Pretoria to play for the Bulls.
In 2016 he returned to the Southern Kings and also played for Boland Cavaliers in this year’s Currie Cup Premier Division.
Engelbrecht was contracted to the Kings for the 2017 season but according to reports has decided he would rather play in France.
