South African Rugby Union’s (SARU) General Manager of High Performance Rassie Erasmus looks set to leave South Africa and coach abroad.

Erasmus reportedly withdrew his name from the race to be named Springbok head coach last week and is now considering moving abroad.

Heyneke Meyer’s contract came to an end after the Rugby World Cup and early reports suggested that Allister Coetzee would replace him.

Coetzee’s chances appeared to suffer a blow around the end of the year and Erasmus was tipped by several South African sources to be the next Bok coach.

However it now appears that Erasmus has become disillusioned with the political infighting going on in South African Rugby and the battle between SARU president Oregan Hoskins and CEO Jurie Roux.

Erasmus is highly respected in South African rugby and there are reports that he has been offered positions with European and Japanese clubs.

With Erasmus out of the running to be named Springbok coach Allister Coetzee has become the favourite to coach the Springboks.
