All Blacks and Highlanders centre Malakai Fekitoa has been linked to a move away from Super Rugby and the Highlanders to Toulon in France.
According to reports in the French press Fekitoa could have played his last match for the All Blacks but looks set to join up with his fellow former All Black Ma’a Nonu.
Fekitoa was part of the 2015 Rugby World cup winning All Black squad but this year he has been overtaken in the selection order by the likes of Ryan Crotty and Sonny Bill Williams in the centres.
The Highlanders centre was left out completely of the All Black squad that played Samoa and did not feature in the All Blacks team that played in the first Test against the British and Irish Lions.
Toulon have already anounced the signing of former Sharks back JP Pietersen from Leicester Tigers and the reports suggest that Fekitoa’s signing will be announced on Tuesday.
The reports also suggest that Fekitoa’s deal will be for two years which rules him out of contention for a return to New Zealand in time for the 2019 Rugby World Cup even though the contract looks set to run until June 2019.
