Injury has forced Highlanders’ half-back Chris Smylie out of the match against the Blues  at Carisbrook tomorrow night.

Smylie sustained a blow to the hip during training this week which has failed to heal satisfactorily in time for the game.

He will be replaced by Jimmy Cowan who started against the Crusaders last week. Wider Training Group member Toby Morland will provide cover on the bench.

Smylie is expected to be available for selection for the match against the Cheetahs in South Africa next week.
