Highlanders head coach Jamie Joseph has praised the resilience of his Highlanders side in their 34-26 Super Rugby victory over the Crusaders.

The Highlanders outscored the Crusaders by five tries to two with Matt Faddes and Waisake Naholo both scoring two each.

While Naholo now has four tries in two matches since returning from a broken leg it was Faddes who stole the show as the Highlanders snapped the Crusaders 8 match unbeaten run.

Joseph said that he was elated with how the Highlanders held firm against a Crusaders side filled with All Black world cup winners.

“I’m really proud of the team, we were under a lot of pressure for about 20 minutes. ”

“There was a little bit of luck but I guess the resilience is what I am proud of,” Joseph told Sportal.

“There was moments there where a lesser team would have bowed, particularly against the Crusaders who are littered with All Blacks. ”

“But once we were able to absorb the pressure it didn’t dent out confidence.”
