Johannesburg based Super Rugby franchise the Lions have paid a price for their history making victory over the Chiefs as three players are returning home.

The Lions followed up their Rd.1 victory in Tokyo over the Sunwolves with a first ever victory over the Chiefs in Hamilton.

The Lions next Super Rugby clash is with defending champions the Highlanders in Dunedin on Saturday.

However Harold Vorster (knee) and Fabian Booysen (eye lid) were injured in the Chiefs match while Lionel Mapoe will return home to be at his girlfriends’ side for the birth of their baby.

Replacement centre Jacques Nel will head out on Sunday evening to join the Lions in Rotorua where they are based for the next four days.
