Wallaby star Mat Rogers is likely to miss the first three rounds of the new Super 14 rugby. Coach Ewen McKenzie says Rogers’ return to action for the Waratahs is being carefully managed following the death of his father Steve, just a few weeks ago.

McKenzie’s best estimation is Rogers would be back for the first home game. This will see him take to the field against the Sharks, in round four on the 4th of March. He says he has spoken to Mat and he is still struggling a bit.

The Waratahs have revealed their squad to play the Blues in a Super 14 warm up match in Gosford on Saturday night. Wallabies Morgan Turunui, Wendell Sailor, David Lyons, Al Baxter and Adam Freier are all starting the game.

Matt Dunning, Chris Whitaker and Lote Tuqiri have been included on the bench.
