New Zealand beat Australia in Rugby Championship

The second round of the Rugby Championship starts in Wellington New Zealand where the All Blacks host the Wallabies at Westpac Stadium.

The anthems are playing. The Haka has been performed.

Beauden Barrett kicks off and the match is underway.

1.00: An early penalty is awarded to the All Blacks for “over the top”. There is already some tension between the teams as the handbags come out. It settles down and Barrett kicks for touch.

2.00: The Wallabies defend the line out and Samu Kerevi clears the ball into touch.

3.00: The All Blacks win the line out but they can’t use it and the Wallabies turn the ball over. There will however be a scrum. Wallabies ball.

5.00: The scrum collapses and the Wallabies have a free kick. They kick over the half way line and regain the ball. The whistle goes. The teams get a talking to about the scuffles between players. The All Blacks have a penalty.

6.00: Aarop Smith makes a break inside the Wallabies half. He is caught but the All Blacks continue the attack and move the ball through the hands and debutant Lienert-Brown pops a ball over the top to Israel Dagg who goes in to score. TRY! There were two players outside him as well.

8.00: Beauden Barrett takes the conversion and nails it.

10.00: Australia win a line out and then a penalty in the All Blacks 22. All of that came from Israel Dagg winning a high ball. Bernard Foley will have a shot.

11.00: Foley takes the kick and he nails it. Australia are on the board.

13.00: From the restart the All Blacks win a penalty for side entry. Barrett will have a shot at the posts.

14.00: Barrett slots the penalty.

15.00: The All Blacks win the ball from a line out and run it down the line. The final pass however goes to ground and then into touch.

16.00: The All Blacks win a second line out from an Australian put in. Moore’s throwing is off. Adam Ashley-Cooper takes a blow in trying to tackle Dane Coles on the charge. He has to come off for a concussion test. Reece Hodge is on. There was a knock on after the contact so Australia have a scrum just outside their 22.

17.00: Penalty to Australia – front row collapsing. They kick for touch.

18.00: Australia win the line out and start their attack on the half way line. They go through 6 phases but the attack slows as they get to the 22m line.

19.00: Penalty to Australia for not rolling away. Foley will have a shot.

20.00: Foley slots the penalty and cuts the lead by three to four points.

22.00: The All Blacks attack after the restart and Beauden Barrett uses his pace to get through and he offloads to Israel Dagg who goes in to score his second. The TMO is asked to check for a knock on. It’s all clear so the TRY is awarded.

23.00: Barrett misses the conversion. Bad news for Australia as Adam Ashley-Cooper won’t be back.

24.00: The All Blacks kick deep and Quade Cooper has to chase and get back. He tries to run it out of the 22 but gets caught on the 5m line. The Wallabies manage to clear the ball and the All Blacks counter attack until they get a penalty on the Wallabies 22.

26.00: Genia steals an intercept pass which saves a try. The ball is then kicked into touch.

28.00: The All Blacks win a penalty but the touchie Jaco Peyper comes in to ask for a look at a swinging arm. Replays show Dan Coles coming in with a swinging arm charge at a ruck. No cards but the penalty is reversed. Foley clears into touch.

29.00: New Zealand win a penalty after the line out for not releasing. Barrett will have a shot.

30.00: Barrett’s kick goes across the face of the posts. Missed.

31.00: Scrum on the half way line to the Wallabies. They win a penalty from the scrum for “screwing”.

34.00: Reece Hodge will have a shot at posts – it’s just inside the Australian half. He nails it. He hit the ball so hard it smashed into the hoardings – what a kick!

35.00: The Wallabies concede a free kick from the line out. The All Blacks take it quickly. They run it and then kick. Australia get the ball and kick it back.

36.00:The whistle goes as  Adam Coleman is yellow carded for a dangerous tackle.

38.00: There is a line out but everyone has to wait as Stephen Moore has taken a knock. He will have to go off for blood. Tatafu Polota-Nau comes on. Moore ran into a boot in a tackle.

39.00: The All Blacks concede another penalty. Foley clears the ball into touch. Dean Mumm wins the ball at the line out. The Wallabies attack.

40.00: The siren sounds as the Wallabies go through the phases. The All Blacks defend. 7 phases and the ball is turned over and the All Blacks attack.

42.00: New Zealand continue the attack through 6 phases. There is a knock on – it’s half time.

Australia missed 14 tackles in the first half while New Zealand missed 1.

41.00; Bernard Foley kicks off and the second half is underway. The kick is judged to have been knocked on so there is a scrum.

42.00: The All Blacks win a penalty from the scrum and kick for touch.

44.00; Stephen Moore comes back on from the blood bin. Australia win a penalty and they kick for touch.

45.00: Genia slices through the All Black defence and gets the Wallabies up to the All Black 22. Penalty to the All Blacks they clear the ball into touch.

46.00: The All blacks win the line out. Israel Dagg beats Quade Cooper to a high ball, they go wide and Ben Smith offloads to Julian Savea who races to the corner and scores. Try No.3 = Bonus point.

47.00: Barrett adds the conversion. Moore goes to the blood bin again.

48.00: Penalty to Australia. Hodge takes the shot – its massive but this one he misses.

52.00: The All Blacks win a line out in the Wallabies half. They work the ball into the Australian 22 there is a knock on.

54.00: Australia come away with the ball from the scrum and Foley clears the ball into touch.

56.00: Australia press the All Blacks back but then concede a penalty for offside. Barrett will have a kick for posts. It’s just inside the Wallabies half. He misses.

59.00: The All Blacks work the ball through the phases and up to the Wallabies 5m line before the ball goes into touch.

60.00: Australia win the line out and clear the ball into touch.

61.00: The All Blacks win the line out and use the maul and then run. Ben Smith almost gets through but he is stopped. The All Blacks recycle and Sam Cane dives over and scores. TRY!

62.00 Barrett adds the conversion kick to extend the lead.

64.00: Stephen Moore is off again this time permanently.

66.00: Penalty to Australia in their half. New Zealand are going to the bench. Several replacements are coming on. The Wallaby kick is poor and the All Blacks take control of it and run.

67.00: Dane Coles breaks down the wing and offloads to TJ Perenara who gets the ball to Ben Smith but they are tackled into touch.

68.00: Australia win the line out and after a couple of phases they clear the ball. They are called back for offside – a call from the touchie Peyper. The All Blacks choose a scrum for the penalty – it’s in front of the posts and about 10m out.

69.00: James Parsons comes on for Dane Coles. The first scrum collapses. Penalty. Perenara takes it quickly and they run the ball. There is a grubber but Australia get the ball and clear.

71.00: The All Blacks get the ball and counter attack. Penalty to New Zealand after Pocock killed the ball. All Blacks choose the scrum.

72.00: Ardie Savea comes on for Sam Cane. The scrum collapses. Hooper gets a final warning.

73.00; All Blacks choose the scrum again and again it goes down.

74.00: The All Blacks attack on the 5m line but Parsons loses the ball forward.

76.00: Australia win the ball from the scrum but they are under pressure to clear on the 5m line and get trapped. Cooper gets trapped behind the line but then the Wallabies win a penalty. Foley clears the ball into touch.

79.00:Australia work the ball into the All Black 22. Nick Phipps goes over to score but he loses the ball in scoring it. The TMO confirms.

80.00: The scrum collapses as the siren sounds.

81.00: Penalty to Australia on the 5m line. They will tap it. The Wallabies lose the ball and New Zealand kick it into touch.
