Reds sharpshooter Mike Harris has declared that he has fully recovered from his hamstring injury and is ready to take on the Stormers this weekend in Brisbane.

The return of Harris will be a boost for the backline but the return of his sharpshooting boot will be a boost for the whole team.

First choice N0.10 Quade Cooper is edging closer to his return which couuld happen in two weeks time and has started playing social touch rugby.

In addition to Harris The Reds will also have playmaker Ben Lucas back for this weekend as he has also recovered from his hamstring strain.

It is unlikely that both players will start the match on Friday but their presence will be a welcome boost as the Reds will need players who can kick both for goal and out of hand.

The Reds will be up against a Stormers team that was stung last weekend by the Crusaders who gave them their first defeat of the season.

The Crusaders beat the Stormers by playing a field-position game plan which led to Tom Taylor kicking eight penalty goals.

Reds coach Ewen McKenzie has suggested that he may start the match with either Harris or Lucas and finish the match with the other as the match will be a physical one.

Harris who kicked 16 penalties from 16 attempts earlier in the season is hungry to start ahead of Lucas.

"I've had a good few weeks to get the hamstring strong so kicking won't be a problem," he said.

"You always look to play the big games.

"I really look forward to the pressure comes with that," Harris told AAP.

Coach McKenzie has not ruled out rookie flyhalf Sam Lane who performed well agaisnt the the Brumbies a fortnight ago but he may have to sit out due to his lack of experience.

"We're going to play one of the, if not the, most physical teams in the competition," said McKenzie.

"They manhandle and they did a good job on the Bulls just a week after we (lost 61-8 to the Bulls).

"They were one of the best defensive teams last year and have retained that status and they've definitely improved their attack."
