The Waratahs will be smarting from last week's loss to the Highlanders at Invercargill where they probably arrived expecting to win without having to work too hard. Instead they lost and that could have been just the shake up they needed.

Match detail

We are waiting for the kick off.

The match is underway.

.00: Wow, Drew Mitchell gives the Waratahs the perfect start. He darts through a hole and then chip kicks, chases and then regathers and scores the first try of the match. Brilliant skills.

.00: Berrick Barnes misses the conversion.

.00: Beale steps through the Chiefs defence and takes Phil Waugh with him. They get to within 5m but its slow and they have to change sides.

.00: The Waratahs put 22 phases through and get the advantage and Waught kicks through but we go back for the penalty.

.00: The Waratahs opt for the line out. They win the line out but then a ruck forms and Burgess knocks on.

.00: The Waratahs are intent on playing the game in the Chiefs half. They scrum is having some early trouble.

.00: The Waratahs go on attack but the pass goes out on the full.

.00: The Chiefs win the line out and Sweeney has a run but gives away a penalty.

.00: The Chiefs are coming into the game much more now. The Waratahs are however still playing the game in the Chiefs half but the Chiefs have them closer to the half way line.

.00: Waratahs still on attack, Rob Horne makes good ground and Waugh is there in support but the Chiefs manage to stop the attack. Waugh and Beale are having great games. Burgess is not having a good time.

.00: Bourke tries to kick the ball upfield and misses - handing the ball to the Waratahs. They pile on the pressure again and they have a penalty advantage but Mowen breaks through and scores !!

.00: Berrick Barnes adds the conversion.

.00: A huge brawl breaks out between Al Baxter and Nathan White. Messam comes in as White throws a couple of punches. Penalty to the Waratahs. They kick for touch.

.00: Berrick Barnes misses the conversion.

.00: The Waratahs are still banging away at the Chiefs in the Chiefs half. It's a well structured peformance. They swing the ball throght 13 phases. Then 14, but it becomes uplayable.

.00: Some relentless attack from the Waratahs forces the Chiefs into an error. Ben Afeaki is the guilty party this time. Berrick Barnes adds the penalty and the Tahs lead by 20.

.00: Beale makes another break for the line and the Tahs look dangerous but the Chiefs stop him.

.00: The Tahs recycle and go again after a couple of phases Kane Douglas goes over for a try but gives away a penalty for not releasing as he was tackled just before the line.

.00: Waratahs still on attack. They get to the tryline but just can't get over. We have a Waratahs 5m scrum.

.00: After a couple of resets the Chiefs win a scrum, Leonard boots the ball to Beale and he pops it over the defence and sets up a line out in the Chiefs 25 which sums up how things have gone for the Chiefs in this.
