Western Force scrumhalf, Justin Turner, has been rewarded for his continued progress by penning a new two year deal with the West Australian club.
Turner, a local Perth product, has evolved through the RugbyWA development pathway into a quality young performer.
Part of the academy set-up in the west, Turner’s progress was temporarily stalled with a back injury last year however he has returned better than ever to make the most of his opportunities at the top level in 2010.
"It has been an impressive rise from Justin," said General Manager of Rugby Mitch Hardy.
"Coming from the academy to making his debut and now starting on Saturday night it is great reward for the hard work he has put in.
"It is fantastic to see another local West Australian player come through the system and have an impact for the Western Force in Super Rugby. Justin is a great example of the opportunities that are being presented to quality young players in WA."
Turner will make his first run-on start in Super 14 against the Cheetahs in Bloemfontein on Saturday night and this week was selected in the Australian U20’s side to play in the IRB Junior World Cup in Argentina.
"We have great confidence that he’ll continue to improve and make an important contribution to the Western Force going forward," Hardy said.
Turner made his debut in the club’s week eight win against the Stormers at ME Bank Stadium, delivering the ball to David Hill for the winning drop goal, and has played in each of the ensuing rounds. His quick ball handling and precise passing has seen the half-back make an positive impact and will continue to develop alongside the club’s other young stars.
"Having the experience of Brett Sheehan and Chris O’Young around Justin and working closely with him has really helped his development," Hardy said.
"Along with the likes of David Pocock and James O’Connor, Justin will form part of a group of young guys that will take the Western Force forward over the years to come."
