This match will be the Hurricanes first match at home in Wellington this season after they toured South Africa and Australia with relatively successful results.

The match is underway.
 
1.00: The Highlanders make a strong start and enjoy some good possession.
 
2.00: The Highlanders work the ball through the phases and on the 12th phase they win a penalty as Conrad Smith did not release in the tackle.
 
3.00: Colin Slade will kick for posts. He takes the kick and nails it. Highlanders lead.
 
6.00: Dane Coles gets a warning for tackling with the shoulder. The Hurricanes are starting to look a little rattled.
 
10.00: The crowd here at the Cake Tin are very subdued. It's like everyone is waiting for something to happen. The Hurricanes win a line out in their half but as they press forward they knock on.
 
14.00: The Highlanders attack in the Hurricanes 25. Corey Jane puts in a try saving tackle on Josh Bekhuis but the Highlanders recycle. They go at the line again and again and eventually Colin Slade scores next to the posts.TRY
 
15.00: Slade adds the conversion and the Hurricanes are starting to look like they could be in trouble. Highlanders at 74% territory.
 
21.00: Highlanders lineout starting to slip a little but they are still in control of the match. Hurricanes have missed 5 tackles so far. Highlanders 1.
 
25.00:Wow. Referee Bryce Lawrence blows the Hurricanes up for putting the ball in at the scrum under the feet which is never normally blown up. He then gives them a warning and the Highlanders a penalty.  Slade slots the penalty.
 
27.00: The Hurricanes are awarded a penalty so as they need points and are 55 metres out Aaron Smith takes the kick. He misses.
 
28.00: The Highlanders concede another penalty and all of a sudden the penalties are coming for the Hurricanes. Beauden Barrett takes the kick and nails it. The Hurricanes are on the board.
 
31.00: Another penalty for the Hurricanes. Barrett slots it again and the Hurricanes are coming back.
 
33.00: Another penalty to the Hurricanes. Highlanders not binding at the scrum. This one Barrett kicks for touch.
 
36.00: After several phases the Hurricanes attack in the Highlanders 25. They win a penalty and take it quickly and Corey Jane scores in the corner. TRY.
 
37.00: Barrett misses the conversion.
 
40.00: As the siren sounds for half time the Hurricanes win a penalty for not putting the ball into the scrum straight. Barrett takes the kick and nails it. The Hurricanes lead.

The second half is underway and we have a change of referee. Keith Brown is on.
 
43.00: Highlanders putting the Hurricanes under pressure but then the ball is turned over and TJ Perenara clears the ball.
 
48.00: Jason Eaton comes into a ruck from the side so the Highlanders have a penalty. Slade slots the kick and the Highlanders lead again.
 
52.00: There is a break in play as Nasi Manu is down after a taking a big knock on the field.
 
54.00: Manu gets back up. The Highlanders have started the second half in much the same way they started the first half. Hosea Gear makes a break and Jane stops him. The ball stays alive and the Highlanders Kade Poki races away and scores. He is however called back for a forward pass.
 
57.00: The Highlanders are all over the Hurricanes and they come within inches of scoring in the corner but get pushed into touch.
 
59.00: Another penalty for the Highlanders. Slade takes the kick but misses.
 
63.00; The Hurricanes enjoy some good attacking ball and TJ Perenara comes close to scoring but is shoved into touch after a great break by Julian Savea 
 
68.00: The Hurricanes win a penalty for players leaving their feet and its right in front of the posts. Barrett knocks it over and the Hurricanes lead.
 
72.00: Highlanders keeping the ball down the in the Hurricanes 25. The Hurricanes turn the ball over though and Barrett kicks the ball out sloppily. The Highlanders win the following line out but concede a penalty. Hurricanes boot the ball downfield.
 
73.00: Penalty to the Highlanders in front of the posts. Chris Noakes will kick. He nails it and the Highlanders lead.
 
77.00: Highlanders are playing a clever game. They are maintaining possession and they force the Hurricanes into making penalties. Thjis one the Highlanders will kick for touch.
 
79.00: Hurricanes have one last chance with a break by Barrett. He is caught but the Canes recycle and keep the ball alive.
 
80.00: The siren sounds, Jason Rutledge steals the ball and the Highlanders kick it out and win.
