Waratahs mid-fielder Rob Horne has been cited for his dangerous lifting tackle on Melbourne Rebels fullback Kurtley Beale.
Horne is alleged to have contravened Law 10.4 (j) Lifting a player from the ground and dropping or driving that player’s head or upper body into the ground whilst that player’s feet are still off the ground when he was involved in a dangerous tackle on Rebels player Kurtley Beale in the 60thminute of the match between the Waratahs and the Rebels at Allianz Stadium.
Horne was shown a yellow card by Referee Jonathan Kaplan for the incident and he spent ten minutes in the sin-bin and in that time the Rebels scored a try.
On further review of the incident after the match the SANZAR Citing Commissioner deemed the incident had met the Red Card threshold.
The Citing is to be considered in the first instance by SANZAR Duty Judicial Officer Mike Heron.
