The Sharks could be given a boost when they return from the bye with the return of prop Tendai Beast Mtawarira and Loose forward Ryan Kankowski.
The Beast played for 60 minutes in a Sharks XV against the EP Kings on Saturday and will play against the Pampas XV during the Sharks Super Rugby bye.
Kankowski was expected to make his comeback in a few weeks but the Sharks medical staff have confirmed to SuperSport that he will also play for the Sharks XV this weekend.
While the return of Mtawarira and Kankowski would be a big boost for the Sharks they also got some bad news from the medics as wing Lwazi Mvovo has a broken nose and is recovering from concussion after a big tackle from Chiefs' Lelia Masaga in the second half.
Mvovo is already in doubt for the Sharks match against the Highlanders.
Another concern for the Sharks is flanker Willem Alberts who is apparently suffering a potential recurrence of the shoulder injury and is being closely monitored.
Meanwhile tighthead prop Jannie du Plessis has a sternum complaint which might stop him from training but he is not in doubt for the match against the Highlanders.
