The Waratahs have announced their side to take on the Brumbies at Canberra Stadium on Saturday night, with Sitaleki Timani handed his first start of the season after being named in the second-row at the expense of veteran Dean Mumm.

In last year's derby match in Canberra, coming up against his old teammates, Timani dotted down with nine seconds left on the clock and gifted the Waratahs a 29-22 victory.

He will be looking to put in a similar performance this time round.

Adam Ashley-Cooper will also be looking to run riot as he plays his first game against the side he represented 78 times.

Meanwhile, the Waratahs will also back the recent form of Dave Dennis as they have opted to start him in favour of Rocky Elsom for this weekend's showdown.

Dennis has been a stand-out at blindside in the absence of Elsom and looks set to retain the starting No.6 jersey for yet another week, despite his captain's recent injury progression.
