Rebels coach Damien Hill has made wholesale changes to his starting side to take on the Bulls at AAMI Park this Friday, with veteran Stirling Mortlock set to make his first Super Rugby appearance of the year having been named on the bench.

Mortlock has been unable to play this season as a result of an ongoing calf injury and will no doubt offer a great deal of experience and sound leadership if he gets a hitout this weekend.

In other changes, Kurtley Beale starts at flyhalf after Danny Cipriani was released and returned to England earlier this week. Mitch Inman returns from injury to start at outside centre, while Cooper Vuna starts on the wing.

Lachlan Mitchell starts at inside centre after James O'Connor was ruled out with a rib injury, which will see him out of action for at least another month. Julian Huxley covers the fullback position.

Mark Gerrard will celebrate his hundredth Super Rugby cap in jersey No. 14.

Hill has made several changes to his forward pack as the result of injury concerns, with Cadeyrn Neville coming in at lock as Luke Jones and Tim Davidson fill the flanker berths.

Rebels:

1. Nic Henderson, 2. Ged Robinson, 3. Rodney Blake, 4. Cadeyrn Neville, 5. Hugh Pyle, 6. Luke Jones, 7. Tim Davidson, 8. Gareth Delve, 9. Nick Phipps, 10. Kurtley Beale, 11. Cooper Vuna, 12. Lachlan Mitchell, 13. Mitch Inman, 14. Mark Gerrard, 15. Julian Huxley.

Replacements: 16. Adam Freier, 17. Jono Owen, 18. Al Campbell, 19. Ryan Hodson, 20. Richard Kingi, 21. James Hilgendorf, 22. Stirling Mortlock.
