Cheetahs second rowers George Earle and Izak van der Westhuizen have signed contracts with European Rugby clubs for next season.

Earle has signed with Pro 12 Rugby club the Scarlets in Wales while Van der Westhuizen has signed with another Pro 12 Rugby club Edinburgh.

Earle, 25, who was born in Durban has played nine matches for the Cheetahs and he is expected to conclude his season in Super 15 and arrive in Wales in July for the pre-season summer programme with his new club.

Earle represented Western Province at age-group level from 2005 to 2008, before making the step up to Vodacom Cup level.

The big lock forward moved from Cape Town to the Lions in Johannesburg in 2010, where he played for two years, before signing with Griquas this year.

Twenty-six-year-old Kimberley Born Van der Westhuizen made his Super Rugby debut against the Brumbies in 2010.

Born in Kimberley, South Africa, the lineout and restart specialist is a formidable ball carrier in the loose thanks to an impressive athleticism, bound in a 6í5", 18st frame.

Van der Westhuizen, still has to complete visa requirements but will leave Bloemfontein after the Currie Cup.

"I want to test myself against the top players in Europe so when I found out Edinburgh Rugby were looking for a player with my skill-set, I was desperate to sign.

"I like the pace the boys play with, itís very similar to a Super Rugby style which gives me a lot of confidence that Iíll fit in well."

"I run the set-piece for the Cheetahs but, when the ballís in play, I like to be in the centre of the park getting stuck into the physical side of the game and hitting rucks.

Van der Westhuizen will be joined in Edinburgh by fellow Cheetah WP Nel.
