All Blacks and Chiefs star Richard Kahui has been given some good news on his dislocated shoulder by his specialist and he is now targeting an early July comeback.

Kahui's orthopaedic specialist, Craig Ball has told his patient that there is a good possibility if him returning to play Super Rugby this season after he dislocated shoulder in Brisbane two weeks ago.

There had been concern that depending on how much damage had been done Kahui might have faced surgery and a year out of rugby but he is now looking at making his return against the Crusaders on July the 6th in the second last round of regular season rugby.

"He said it feels far more stable than what he expected and said he was pleasantly surprised, so that's a good thing coming from him," said Kahui.

"He's always pretty honest," Kahui told Stuff of his specialist who has treated and operated on Kahui for all his previous serious shoulder injuries.

"He knows me better than anybody -genuinely knows me inside and out - so he's got a pretty good handle on where I'm at."
